Rick Brown

Rick Brown brings tremendous leadership experience to the Alberta Energy Regulator with more than 28 years as an Officer in the Canadian Forces serving with Lord Strathcona's Horse (Royal Canadians). Following his military career, Mr. Brown served for six years with Alberta Emergency Management with his final role as Executive Director for Alberta's emergency management organization.

Mr. Brown has also served as Assistant Deputy Minister Environmental Management and Assistant Deputy Minister of Operations with Alberta Environment and Sustainable Resource Management, prior to serving as Assistant Deputy Minister of the Corporate Services Division of the Alberta Department of Energy.

Mr. Brown’s career has provided him with experience in environmental regulatory oversight, emergency planning and business continuity, corporate planning, safety and loss control, specialized military disciplines and leadership.

Mr. Brown joined the Alberta Energy Regulator as its first Executive Vice President, Corporate Services in July 2013. He holds responsibility for human resources, information management, information technology, administrative and workplace services, finance and internal audit.
