Why was the AER created

The AER’s creation comes from the Government of Alberta-led Regulatory Enhancement Project. This project aims to ensure that Alberta’s resource policy development, public consultations, and regulation of energy development were efficient and competitive while effectively supporting public safety, environmental management, and resource conservation.
