Requesting a Delay for the Start of a New Oil Well Production Period (NOWPP)

Requesting a Delay for the Start of a New Oil Well Production Period (NOWPP)

A new oil well production period (NOWPP) gives operators of new oil wells the flexibility to produce and gather production data for pool development. Allowing operators to delay the start of NOWPP gives them an additional 72-hour test period in the first production month for wells drilled in remote areas where gas conservation is questionable. Delays in the start of NOWPP will not be granted to extend NOWPP an additional month. They are granted to operators that are flaring for the purpose of testing, cleanup, or completion. The data gathered during this test period is used for economic evaluation and for sizing of equipment to tie in to a new oil battery.

Application Submission

Questions or requests for delay of NOWPP are to be sent by e-mail to oilallowables@aer.ca
