EPEA Approved Activities

Environmental Protection and Enhancement Act (EPEA) approval is required in order to construct, operate, and reclaim. Requirements for conservation and reclamation are provided in EPEA and its regulations, in the terms and conditions of the EPEA approval, and in relevant regulatory policy (e.g., Land-Use Framework regional plans). The EPEA approval will provide site-specific requirements relating to conservation and reclamation, including soil salvage and storage, for the construction and operation, and closure stages..

An approval holder must obtain a reclamation certificate by submitting an application to the AER. The Conservation and Reclamation Regulations provides the content requirements for the reclamation certificate application.
