January 14, 2010 - ERCB Information Session - Proposed Legislation for In Situ Coal Development
On October 20, 2009, the Energy Resources Conservation Board (ERCB/Board) issued Bulletin 2009-26: Invitation for Feedback on Proposed Legislative Framework for In Situ Coal Schemes. The bulletin invited stakeholders to provide feedback on the proposed legislative and regulatory changes to accommodate in situ coal gasification and liquefaction schemes.
Written feedback and questions have been received from some stakeholders. The ERCB will be holding an information session to provide stakeholders an opportunity to ask questions, obtain further clarification, and provide additional feedback on the proposed legislative changes to accommodate in situ coal gasification and liquefaction schemes in Alberta.
The information session will focus on the proposed amendments to ERCB-administered legislation, which would provide enabling regulatory authority for the ERCB in the area of in situ coal gasification and liquefaction. Such authority would enable the ERCB to set out more detailed technical requirements in future amendments to regulations and directives.
