For immediate release
Calgary, Alberta (Apr 27, 2011)… The Energy Resources Conservation Board (ERCB) is working with Imperial Oil Limited at the site of a cleanup from a wellsite release 35 kilometres northwest of Cold Lake.
The spill resulted from a leak that began the evening of April 26. Approximately 400 cubic metres (about 2,500 barrels) of crude bitumen emulsion was released during the course of the incident, which ended early this morning.
Most of the product remained on the lease site. However, a portion of the emulsion sprayed off lease. There is no threat to public safety and crews are already working to clean up the affected area.
There are no residents in the area. There have been no injuries resulting from the incident. All appropriate authorities have been notified.
