Purpose of this Directive
This directive sets out the requirements for noise control as they apply to all operations and facilities under the jurisdiction of the AER. It also provides background information and describes an approach to deal with noise problems. These requirements address environmental noise, not health-related impacts, such as noise-induced hearing loss.
Alberta Labour regulates matters related to occupational noise. Non-energy facility noise issues are the jurisdiction of Alberta Environment and Parks or the local municipality.
