The Alberta Energy Regulator (AER) will hold a public hearing on applications 1842705, 1851246, and 1851250 at the Clean Energy Technology Centre, 5400 - 24 Avenue, Drayton Valley, Alberta, on September 6, 2017, starting at 9:00 a.m. The hearing will also be webcast at This webcast will only be available when the hearing is in progress. It will not be an official record of the proceeding.

The AER issued a notice of hearing on applications 1842705, 1851246, and 1851250 on December 20, 2016, and has received requests to participate in response to that notice. All parties must be present to register at the start of the hearing.

Description of the Applications
Bashaw Oil Corp. applied under section 2.020 of the Oil and Gas Conservation Rules to drill and operate three proximity critical sour wells on a multiwell padsite to be located in Legal Subdivision (LSD) 9, Section 35, Township 49, Range 7, West of the 5th Meridian. The wells would be directionally drilled to bottomhole locations at LSD 04-01-050-07W5, LSD 15-35-049-07W5, and LSD 08-34-049-07W5, targeting crude oil in the Nisku formation. The wells would have a maximum hydrogen sulphide (H2S) content of 211.5 moles per kilomole (21.15%), and the cumulative completion/servicing H2S release rate would be 1.15 cubic metres per second with a corresponding emergency planning zone of 0.88 kilometres. The padsite would be located about 2.3 km east of Rocky Rapids.
