The Alberta Energy Regulator (AER) will hold a public hearing for the regulatory appeal at Govier Hall, 250–5th street S.W., Calgary, Alberta, starting on March 4, 2020, at 9:00 a.m. The hearing will be webcast at www.meetview.com/aer. If the requests for the regulatory appeals are withdrawn, the hearing will be cancelled.
The AER had scheduled a public hearing on December 11, 2019. The AER received a request from the parties to reschedule the hearing and agreed to grant the request.
Description of the Proceeding
On October 26, 2018, the AER approved AltaGas Ltd.'s application to construct and operate a new B20 sweet gas battery with 0 per cent hydrogen sulphide. There are four gas compressors, four electric compressors, pumps, coolers, and heaters on site. The project is on private land approximately 14 kilometres east of Sundre.
On November 21, 2018, the AER received two requests for a regulatory appeal, under Division 3 of the Responsible Energy Development Act and Part 3 of the Alberta Energy Regulator Rules of Practice (Rules of Practice), of the AER's decision to approve application 1913609 and issue facility licence F51073.
The AER approved the requests for regulatory appeal on September 19, 2019. The purpose of the hearing is to determine whether the AER should confirm, vary, suspend, or revoke its decision to issue facility licence F51073. The applied-for facility has been constructed and commissioned.
