Bulletin 2025-22

New Edition of Directive 040

Release Date

Today we released a new edition of Directive 040: Pressure and Deliverability Testing Oil and Gas Wells. The updates include clarification of data and analysis requirements for transient pressure testing for fall-off tests. We have also included references to the Brine-Hosted Mineral Resource Development Rules.

To reflect the changes made in Directive 040, we have updated the Digital Data Submission – Well Test Capture (DDS-WTC) system TRG-PAS file to require water rate data prior to shut-in for fall-off tests. The changes are effective as of July 1, 2025.

The revised edition of TRG PAS file specifications can be found at http://www.aer.ca/documents/dds/PASFileFormats.pdf. To assist in identifying fields that have been changed, modified, or deleted from the PAS file formats, the PAS file formats have been color-coded, indicating the changed data elements. New additions are highlighted in green, and those changed or revised are in blue. If you have any questions regarding well-test submissions, contact our Well Test Helpline at WellTest-Helpline@aer.ca.

The revised edition of Directive 040 is available on our website. If you have any questions regarding the directive, contact our Customer Contact Centre by phone at 1-855-297-8311 or by email at inquiries@aer.ca.
