Release Date
Today, we released a new edition of Directive 011: Estimated Liability.
We made the following administrative changes to the well abandonment cost parameters in section 5.1.1 of the directive:
- Enabled exceptions for when no additional well event sequence costs will be applied.
- Clarified when the base of groundwater protection liability is applied, and that licensees can submit missing primary cementing information to the AER.
In section 8, we state that the current estimated liability, unless otherwise specified, will be used in our decisions.
Licensees can access their specific liabilities in the OneStop liability assessment report. Only licensees who met the exceptions for additional events will see changes in their reports.
The revised edition of the directive is available on the Directive 011 landing page. If you have any questions, contact our Customer Contact Centre by phone at 1-855-297-8311 or by email at inquiries@aer.ca.
