Release Date
Today, we released a revised “Professional Declaration for Hazard Identification and Consequence Analysis” for Directive 071: Emergency Preparedness and Response. The revised form incorporates feedback received after the February 2026 release of the directive. We revised the form as follows:
- Clarified that accountability and professional validation are required for hazard identification and consequence analysis involving hazards that could result in catastrophic consequences to the public and the environment, and for emergency planning zone determinations for operations involving hydrogen sulphide or high-vapour-pressure products.
- Qualified professionals appropriate to the work being validated and who are licensed to practise in Alberta may now sign the declaration form.
- Approval holders may submit multiple declaration forms when different qualified professionals are responsible for specific operational types or geographic areas.
We may assess whether an individual possesses the qualifications and expertise necessary to validate the work.
