On May 6, 2021, Alberta Environment & Parks updated the Mine Financial Security Program Standard, allowing us to permit mine approval holders to use an alternative methodology to calculate their mine financial security requirements. In response, we have amended the Guide to the Mine Financial Security Program to reflect this change. The updated materials are available on our website, aer.ca, Regulating Development > Project Closure > Liability Management Programs and Processes > Mine Financial Security Program.
