Alberta court sentences Apache for incidents

Alberta - October 05, 2016

We've all watched enough movies to know that the guilty plea is often the beginning of the story. What comes after—the judge’s decision—is where people’s interest can really peak.

This week, an Alberta court responded to Apache Canada Ltd.'s guilty plea by ordering them to pay $350 000 in penalties for pipeline releases that occurred in 2013 and 2014. A large portion of that money will go towards enhancing the science of soil remediation.

In its news release, the AER cites the importance of industry performance in keeping spills and other incidents at a minimum.
