Emergency Preparedness Week an opportunity for Canadians to be ready

Alberta - May 07, 2018

Scouts around the world live by the motto “Be Prepared.” This week, Canadians are being encouraged to tear a page from the Scout handbook and be prepared to protect themselves in case of an emergency.

Emergency Preparedness Week, May 6 to 12, is an opportunity for Canadians to prepare themselves for any emergency situation that may occur in their community.

The Alberta Energy Regulator (AER) responds to energy-industry emergencies and natural disasters whenever called upon. It recently joined dozens of other first responders at Disaster Alley in Calgary to showcase its mobile incident command (MIC) trailer – recently retrofitted to operate on solar power.

The MIC and one of the AER’s two air monitoring units will be making an appearance at the Get Ready in the Park event in Edmonton happening May 12.
