A court date is set for two pipeline spills

Alberta - June 24, 2019

Journey Energy Inc. will be going to court on August 19 for two pipeline spills that entered a waterbody and killed several animals.

Just before the Canada Day long weekend in 2017, Journey discovered a spill along one of its lines near Winfield, Alberta. Shortly after reporting the spill to the Alberta Energy Regulator (AER) on June 28, 2017, the company discovered a second spill on the same pipeline. All told, nine cubic metres of crude oil and produced water was released from the line.

The AER has laid five charges against Journey for the two spills.
