AER fines Murphy Oil for its 2015 pipeline spill near Peace River

Alberta - February 28, 2017

The Alberta Energy Regulator (AER) has fined Murphy Oil Company $172 500 for a 2015 pipeline spill near Peace River.

This fine comes after the AER’s investigation into the spill, which found that Murphy failed to take reasonable steps to ensure that its leak detection system was properly implemented to detect leaks early.

Murphy has since abandoned the pipeline and continues to remediate the impacted area.
