Bonnyville field centre staff donate to crisis centre

Alberta - November 28, 2016

Crises take many shapes; sometimes it’s a well blowout, other times it’s a community in need.

When the Alberta Energy Regulator’s (AER) Bonnyville Field Centre staff learned that a local crisis centre was struggling to get on its financial feet, they rallied to raise funds for the Dr. Margaret Savage Crisis Centre in Bonnyville—a town about 240 kilometres northeast of Edmonton, Alberta’s capital.

“Sadly when employment and industry activity is down, the need for food banks and the like goes up,” says Enforcement and Surveillance Manager Colin Woods, who works out of the AER’s Bonnyville Field Centre. “So when someone in the community needs our support, whether it’s because of a wild fire or for any other reason, we don’t hesitate to help.”

The field centre staff used $400 of their United Way fundraising results to support the crisis centre. The full story can be read in the Bonnyville Nouvelle.
