The AER tracks the movement of facilities through their life cycle to ensure orderly and responsible development.
An active facility is one that is reporting production throughputs.
An inactive facility is one that has had no production throughputs for twelve months (six months for certain larger facilities).
A decommissioned (abandoned) facility has been permanently dismantled and the equipment has been removed from the site.
A facility will receive a reclamation certificate once the site has been returned to an equivalent land capability.
